Just the job to add more matching sand to beef up the depth in my Vision 180s existing substrate. In fact ordered so much (25KG), as it was reasonable priced and didn't want to run short, that if I wanted to half fill my Vision 180 I would have enough.

I am setting up a new aquarium and am wondering what sand is the most suitable for bottom dwellers (bristlenose pleco and zebra loaches). I would like to buy a black sand but I have seen Tahaitian Moon sand described as unsuitable for bottom dwellers but not sure why? Is it better to go for a slightly coarser sand for bottom dwellers i.e. like the Limpopo 1mm grains?

Staff

Tahitan moon sand tends to be a little sharp for corys and this is why it's not advisable.

Limpopo is a little smoother in comparison and as a result might be better for you.

I hope this helps.
