Some carbon is better than none and as it's one of the most important elements to aquarium plants, you really do need to add it to your water. When aquarium plants are grown in nurseries, they are grown outside of the water (also known as emersed). When they arrive with you and they're placed under water, there is no carbon at all and this is the main reason aquarium plants fail, but it's so easily avoided! This sudden change of environment and their desire for carbon is often a key point in the life of a plant. By offering aquarium plants liquid carbon you are fulfilling their need and they will grow faster and stronger. Not only that but liquid carbon doubles up as an algaecide so if you have a few problems in that area, put liquid carbon in daily.
