Originating from South America this plant has a 'grass' like look about it. With long, wispy leaves errupting from the centre of the plant, this plant is widely used in aquascaping.

A versatile foreground plant that is relatively easy to grow - common name of hair grass. Provide it with CO2 and watch it throw out runners and spread through your aquarium quickly.

Helpful Tip:

  • Plant with rocks such as mini landscape or dragon stone to create an impressive and inspiring aquascape.

Conditions:

  • Preferred water temperature is 22-28 ºC.
  • Ideal water chemistry is pH 6-8.4.
  • Can be kept in a medium to high light environment.
  • Suitable in both CO2 and non CO2 tanks.
  • Foreground plant.

Super little plant that gives a different texture to most aquarium plants. Rooted and began growing in my tank very quickly.

This is the favourite of the 5 plants I purchased. Looks great in a big clump. Actually feel quite inspired to get a bigger tank and fill with this and shrimp and maybe a pair of rams.

looks great in my rectangular 60litre tank in the middle to back-ground nestled into small gravel to hide the pot. chose not to plant direct as it looks better like this. creates height and interest and is a great colour. bought api plant food to go with it. all good.

Would this plant do well in a 20 litre aquarium with no CO2?

Guest
How many centimetres of substrate does this plant require, and will it still grow with no CO2 or nutrient rich substrate?

Staff
It's fine for a 20l tank and is ok without CO2

Staff
Like all plants they like a substrate of 2 inches or more depth and will always do better with a nutrient rich substrate and CO2. However they can survive without both.

When you plant this plant, do you need to trim the roots and if so, how much do you need to trim?

Guest
The product description states that this plant needs to be kept in a medium to high light environment. Does that mean that it requires more hours or light, or does it mean that the light has to be brighter?

Staff
You can trim the roots but its not necessary

Staff
It means the intensity, not duration of light.
