  • Aquarium Soil ensures proper growth and stimulates red colours

How to use the product

Aquarium Soil ensures good and active growth from the beginning, and boosts the red plant shades.

It is a complete substrate, which can be used without any other types of bottom layer.

Aquarium Soil is further an active bottom layer that lowers the pH value and slightly affects the water chemistry.
We recommend that you change 25-50% of the water min. twice a week during the first 4 weeks after establishing the aquarium.

How do I calculate the quantity of Soil or Soil Powder needed for my tank?

  • Measure your tank’s length and width in cm, for example 90 x 60 cm.
  • Consider the thickness of the bottom layer you want, e.g. 8 cm.
Make the layer thicker towards the rear wall for a great visual effect!
  • The calculation to do is length x width x layer divided by 1000.

In our example, 90 x 60 x 8/1000 = 43,2 L Soil/Soil Powder needed

Great product, easy to plant into, didn't seem to mess the water. The plants look great and so does the final look of the tank, definitely worth the money

Does tend to get moved around because of the flow from the circulation pumps.

Good advice from the staff at AE, plants have settled in to the set-up very well and all looks good!

Do i need to top this substrate with gravel or sand? How many bags would i need for a 120 litre tank 80L x 35W cm?

No topping required.

You need 2 x 9L bags.

Can tropica substrate be used under the soil? And if so well it make much difference?

It can be but there is no need. This soil has everything you will need :-)

How many bags need for 350 litre 121L X 51W CM?

You will need 6 x 9L bags

how much for a 54 litre 60x30cm

1 x 9L bag

Do you have to wash it

I’m guessing the advice for the amount of soil above is to cover the whole bottom of the tank. Can you just put the soil in the area where you want to plant the plants and use the gravel in the other areas of the tank. I gravel clean my tank so would not touch the planted area just move the gravel cleaner through the gravel areas. Also I’m guessing this is ok in a goldfish tank, it doesn’t have to be tropical. I’m new to the planted aquarium and want to do everything right the first time around! Also as I take quite a bit of water out, when I pour the buckets of clean water back in, it usually swishes everything around at the bottom, any advice for keeping the plants in place appreciated! Do aquariums have anything like ‘plant pots’ whereby soil and plants could be planted so that they wouldn’t get disturbed when doing the cleaning? Have you any idea when this soil is back in stock. With thanks

Yes for covering the complete base.

Adding plants in only a few areas is for advanced hobbyists - much harder to keep water parameters correct in terms of dosing fertilisers etc.

Safe for all fish.

Use a sieve to avoid water damage.

Soil back in next week all being well.
