Banana plants are a popular choice in planted aquariums, often used as filler or specimen plants due to their unique shape. To plant them, one-third of their larger, banana-shaped roots should be buried in gravel. The plant will also produce normal-shaped roots.
The leaves at the bottom of the plant can grow between 15-46 cm tall, and it may also produce a floating lily leaf at the surface. When given optimal conditions, this plant will typically flower in the tank. It requires minimal lighting but thrives in high or bright conditions. Propagation in an aquarium can be done by cutting a mature leaf and replanting when roots begin to form.
Note - this aquarium plant arrives small, typically 4-5 cm long and rarely has leaves (which develop underwater).
