  • Suitable for aquariums up to 25L.

Once you receive these plants we know you'll be absolutely delighted with the choice and quality. Aqua Essentials has an amazing reputation for quality and we always live up to it. It's entirely up to you as to how you plant them in your aquarium, but always remove them from their pots and rock wool and then give them sufficient space to grow.

Don't forget your fertilisers when choosing your plants. Without fertilisers, you don't give plants the food they need to grow. We use Neutro Fertilisers in our nursery and we recommend you do too.

Good strong plants, no duckweed and no snails. Could not ask for more. However the packaging needs to be more environmentally friendly. Yes, plastic needed to seal the plants but not for the protective packing. Maybe shredded cardboard?

Are these plants suitable for a coldwater aquarium?

Staff
Sadly not. Our plants are only suitable for tropical aquariums.

Guest
Will any of the plants you supply require a hi-tech aquarium set up? I'm only dosing a small amount of fertilizers since I have a low-light aquarium. Thanks in advance :)

Staff
We can pick a selection for a low tech tank. Simply leave a comment at the checkout and the picking team will do their best for you :)

I want to order Mixed Box 5 Pots - For a 35L Tank. It's possible to know what is the name of the plants because i already have some plants in my fish tank. Thanks

Staff
The plants vary everyday so there are no specific plants in the mixed boxes.

Guest
How tall will the plants be for a Mixed Box 5 Pots - For a 35L Tank.

Staff

Who knows! It's a mixed box so varies every time. However it will be suitable for a 35L tank so not that tall.

are the sitable for terripins?

Staff

I would have to say no. although it depends on your terripins! as some only eat meat, some only eat meat and lettuce, others eat anything.

I am totally new to fish keeping and I have plastic plants and want to change to real plants are these easy to look after and how would you plant these? also are they tallest at the back to the smallest for the front?

Staff

Yes very easy to plant. Simply remove from basket and plant in gravel or substrate. Tallest at back, shortest at front.

Don't forget you'll also need Neutro T and Neutro CO2 as your fertilisers :)

Guest
Are all your plants free from snails? Starting a new planted tank and don't want snails if possible. Thanks

Staff

The only way to guarantee plants without snails is tissue culture https://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/aquarium-plants-tissue-culture-plants-c-255_552.html

However all our potted one's are kept out of water so much less chance of snails

I have cherry shrimp in my tank I have been told there are plant that release oxalic acid when cut or damaged which is poisonous to shrimp. Is it possible to o a mixed box without these types of plants. Also are the plants pesticide free?

Staff

total rubbish! All our plants are shrimp safe and pesticide free

Guest
Do these plants need a nutrient rich substrate or will they grow just with liquid ferts?

Staff

All plants need a nutrient rich substrate to flourish.

Guest
Anubias and Java fern etc don't need substrate?

Staff

You're right. But those plants are not included in mixed boxes.

I have a 200L tank bit don't want it over planted.. thinking of going for this set or a step up.. bit I want some.red plants.. do they definitely come with themjQuery111104282271273875724_1497366434763? And also my tank is 50 cm tall so what hight do these normally.come at? I don't want all short plants.

Staff

They rarely come with red plants. If you definitely want some, you'll need to buy those separately to avoid disappointment. You only get 6 plants with this set - you need A LOT more otherwise you'll have problems. Heights of plants vary.

Guest
Is it possible to state which plants you don't want included as I have certain plants already and wouldn't want to replicate . It would only be 1 plant in particular

Staff

If you're after specific plants then you need to order them separately. Similarly, mixed boxes of plants are exactly that and you cannot stipulate what you do or don't want. Sorry.

Hi, I want to add live plants to my turtle tank. Will any of them be poisonous if the turtle eats them? Thanks

Staff

the're safe

Hi, I have a 350L Trigon corner tank which I am setting up from scratch, I have wood and rocks and substrate already so that would probably bring it down by 20-30L I would have thought, how many plants might I need to start up a tank like this? Thanks

Staff

I would suggest a Mixed Box for a 200L tank as the base is smaller for the Trigon. That is 48 plants in total as a guide.

Guest
Is there any information regarding the names of the plants?

Staff

No - every mixed box is different

Guest
I have small gravel in the bottom of my tank will that be ok for these plants?

Staff

Yes

Guest
Hi, I recently bought one of these packs and all the plants are doing great except for one which’s leaves are turning brown. Do you have any advice on this? I’m a bit of a newbie with this stuff I’m afraid so any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Staff

Hello! What fertilisers are you using?

Guest
None. I just have eco complete substrate in.

Staff

That would be why. You'll need to use liquid fertilisers. Use Neutro T and Neutro CO2.

Guest
Brilliant. Thanks for your help!
