Ludwigia is a classical stem plant that is very easy to grow and easy on the eye. Found across the United States and Central America and grows very quickly in this area and as a result it's one of the most common aquarium arts in the world.
An easy to grow red plant, it grows in a wide range of conditions with moderate to low light it's surprisingly easy to grow in a non-CO2 aquarium. When the plant is well lit it can grow at an angle on the substrate like a foreground plant) rather than straight up. To encourage its red colouration, simply make sure the lighting is bright and avoid shading. Pruning is necessary to keep the plant in shape and trimming regularly helps to improve its roots and encourages bushy growth. If you let it grow to the surface it will look attractive but leggy. Position in the middle / background as a focal point but if you have a large aquarium, you might get away with it being foreground plant.
