Description

Amazon Frogbit is a hardy aquatic free floating plant which resembles a miniature water lily. The leaves range from 2-8cm depending on the time of year and have a lovely green glossy colour to them. The leaves float on the surface and grow from the middle and and the roots flow freely in the water. Roots are ideal for surface dwellers such as gouramies and fry as it provides them with some protection and shelter.

It may produce a white flower with a yellow bud with adequate light and good fertilisation. Plants send out daughter plant runners multiplying at great speed. This plant will need maintaining if you have other aquatic plants below it as it may block out light to them. It is ideal in open-top aquariums or tanks with good ventilation otherwise the leaves may dry up under the lights.

This plant is not keen on being splashed with water so avoid placing them from a swift water flow or current.

All my plants very promptly and in excellent condition. The frogbit looks great in the tank , I love the long roots that hang down giving an "Amazon Jungle" look at the top of the tank,

Healthy looking plants delivered in great condition. My fish seem to eat them though, so they haven't lasted long.

Hi, my idea is to place low light plants on one side of my tank and I need to place them in shade as I'm not able to reduce the light, can I place a clear plastic barrier across my take to keep this plant in the area I wish to shade , also with the barrier it will stop a lot of the fish food from entangling with the plant on the surface. also does this plant require some water movement on the surface?

You can try - your idea might work

Just wondering on the quantity to buy. Whilst the plant will obviously grow, what is the average coverage per pot.

this has been out of stock for 6 months now - try the tissue culture variety. Start with a couple of pots and see how you get on
