Description

Cryptocoryne undulatus 'Kasselman' is a classic and well-regarded variant of the green undulatus Cryptocoryne, named after the aquatic plant specialist Christel Kasselmann. It produces wavy, textured medium green leaves with a slightly more pronounced surface texture than the standard green form — a reliable and attractive midground Crypt that improves with age.

Low light, no CO2, planted in substrate. Root tabs support good establishment. Like all Crypts, temporary leaf melt can follow being moved — leave the rhizome in the substrate and it will regrow. Once established it spreads reliably via runners.

Plant roots in the substrate without burying the crown. Midground positioning in most aquariums.

Product FAQs

Helpful details before you buy.

What is 'crypt melt'?

When moved, Cryptocoryne sometimes dissolve their leaves. This is normal. Leave the rhizome in the substrate and new leaves will regrow.

How does Kasselman differ from standard undulatus Green?

The Kasselman form typically has a slightly more pronounced surface texture on the leaves. Both are reliable and attractive — Kasselman is the classic named form.

Does it need CO2?

No — grows without CO2. Root tabs or a nutrient-rich substrate are more important.

What size does it reach?

Typically 15–25cm — midground positioning in most aquariums.

How do I plant it?

Plant roots in the substrate without burying the crown. It spreads via runners over time.
