Description

Plants only absorb CO2 when your lights are on, so there is no point in adding gas at night time. Not only is it wasteful, but carbon dioxide binds to oxygen and you can cause major distress or death in your livestock.

The Colombo CO2 Solenoid should be used with a domestic timer (just like your lights timer) and automates when your CO2 comes on and off. I recommend it comes on 1 hour before your lights come on and turn off 1 hour before they go off (this is optimal). By using this solenoid you will not only save a lot of gas, reduce any risk to your fish/shrimp and save you plenty of money (as you won't need to purchase CO2 bottles as often!).

how long after it switches off will the co2 actually stop .. i seem to have bubbles still after 2 hours ?

Staff

Sometimes it takes a while depending on your diffuser and pressure left in the tubing

Hi can this be used with the Fluval CO2 Kit 88g Pressurised kit?

Staff

Not sure. Depends if your instructions say a Solenoid can be used with it

Guest
Can this be used with the 90g Colombo CO2 regulator?

Staff

sadly not

Can this be used with the Tropica nano CO2 canister

Staff

I don't know as that's not something we sell

Guest
Hi - can this be used with the Insta 95g set?

Staff

that depends on your regulator and if the instructions say you can use a solenoid with it

What size pipe does this work on . I have a standard 4/6mm pipe with a Oista regulator and a 1litre cylinder. Would this work?

Staff

4/6mm pipe

Guest
Presumably it would work with the Oista regulator then?

Staff

As long as your reg can handle a solenoid then yes

I’ve just installed my Colombo Profi CO2 with the magnetic solenoid. It works well but gets VERY hot. Is that normal? Also there is a black round ‘regulator’ ; what does that do? It came without instructions and I can’t find any on their website either.

Staff

Yes normal - 240v all the way down to 12v for safety. This is why it gets hot.

Guest
I just got one of these - mine also gets very hot and buzzes? Is that ok?

Staff

Normal - don't forget it's taking 220v and turning it into a safe 12v

this is why it gets  hot and buzzes
