Why does Eco-Complete™ planted aquarium substrate outperform other products? The secret lies in rich basaltic volcanic soil which contains iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, sulfur plus over 25 other elements to nourish your aquatic plants.

Eco-Complete™ Planted Aquarium Substrate is mineralogically and biologically complete, giving you luxuriant aquatic plant growth without nuisance algae! Iron rich Eco?Complete™ eliminates the need for laterite. No artificial dyes, paints, or chemical coatings. Eco-Complete™ has highly porous spherical grains for optimum diffusion performance and contains live Heterotrophic bacteria to rapidly convert fish waste into natural food for your aquatic plants. It establishes a natural biological balance which makes cycling a new aquarium faster and safer.

Question:  How long does the Eco-Complete™ Planted substrate remain effective for or after what period of time will I need to replace it?

Answer:  Eco-Complete™ Planted is a geologically recent basaltic volcanic material. Since it is not a weathered product such as clays or laterites it will stay active over the life of the aquarium, will not break down into a mud, and does not need to be replaced.

Question:  Hi i was wondering how long does the Eco-Complete™ Planted last in a tank and also is it ok to add like a sand on top or will that defeat the purpose of the Eco-Complete™ Planted and lastly does Eco-Complete™ Planted take in the nutrients from the water column and feed the roots with it cause im gonna fertilize the water column and need a substrate that will do that.

Answer:  Eco-Complete™ Planted will last indefinitely. It won’t break down or turn to mud. Eco-Complete™ Planted will supply trace elements that the plant needs but does not supply a fertilizer component ie. N,P or K. You either need to add the fertilizer or have fish in there that you feed regularly.

Great product looks great in aquarium and new plants have started to take hold in it.

Great substrate. No washing, drain it and I was able to put it straight away - small amount of cloudynes gone in minutes - very easy to plant in. Big thumbs from me. 👍

I really like Eco-complete and have used it before with good success. Water clarity is excellent and because it is relatively heavy, plants don't float away - even single stems of HC stay put. It stinks when you open it, but its all good stuff! I previously used FloraBase but it was an absolute disaster - so light that it moved around in decent water flow and leached ammonia like nothing I have seen before. I had to completely strip down the tank and start again, with Eco-Complete. None of the above problems so far, so highly recommended. Worth the extra few quid.

Delivered quickly and looks great in my tank, really brings out the colours of my neon tetras. Tank was already cycled so followed the instructions to drain of the fluid in the bad and within 30 minutes any cloudiness was gone. Looking forward to seeing how well plants grow in this substarate.

Great looking (black) substrate, which you use straight from the bag, so no washing. Very little dust/cloudiness on filling and no ammonia peak observed. A bit of an algal bloom on day 2, but cleared in 24 hours without any action. Very light in weight, so tricky to plant out fine/lawn type plants (the fine grade is probably better for this). One bag was enough for a highly aquascaped 55l tank. Really attractive in use and plants seem to be taking to it well.
