Anubias barteri var. barteri from West Africa is an undemanding plant. It grows somewhat larger than Anubias barteri var. nana but is grown in the same conditions. From 25-45 cm tall and a creeping rhizome from 10-15 cm or more. Anubias barteri varies considerably in terms of size and leaf shape.

Like other Anubias-species, it is best planted in a shady spot to restrict algae growth on the leaves. It is also suitable for terrariums and paludariums. Herbivorous fish do not eat the very tough and robust leaves.

Plant information:

  • Origin: Africa
  • Growth: Slow
  • Size: 20-30cm and up

I gave these a go for my first ever plants in my tank. Waited a couple of weeks before reviewing. They have survived really well. No lost leaves or damaged ones even for that matter. Packaging for shipping was excellent. Will definitely be buying from this site more in the future. Highly recommend to anyone who is unsure.

My favourite plant. Had two pots so could have it in both goldfish tanks. Very pleased with quality and am considering a possible nano tank with just bog wood and various Anubias species. The quality of the plants make it tempting.

Very nice plant, very robust which it needs to be as my plecos seem to like it.
