The XXL plants are also known as Show Plants - the biggest aquarium plants for sale. Grown for the longest time before allowing for resale, these plants are special and suit larger tanks or those looking for centre pieces.

The purple colour underneath leaves of Alternanthera reineckii 'red' from South America provides an effective contrast to the many green plants in an aquarium - particularly when planted in groups. Stems becomes 25-50 cm tall. Good light encourages the leaves to turn red. Easy to propagate by nipping off the terminal bud and planting it in the substrate. This also makes the mother plant more bushy, because more side shoots are formed.

hi, I was wondering if you'd recommend me splitting this plant up when I plant it or planting it all as one .. the overall look im trying to achieve is a flourishing bush so to say. thanks

Either either. For more impact leave as one.

ok thanks for your help.

hi, is this fairly hardy as red plants go, have t5 tubes day and plant tubes, use easy carbo lighting on 8 hrs but temperature kept between 84-86 as I have discus fish

yes hardy plant. Without bright enough lighting it may lose redness though.
