The purpose of this moss dome is to hold moss or foreground plants in place so they begin to grow on it, then through it.
Once the moss or foreground plant has grown, it provides your aquarium with a very natural looking dome in which only the moss or plants show. It therefore makes a wonderful home and shrimp love to clean and climb all over it.
We recommend java moss with this product which is one of the easiest plants to grow as it requires little effort or nutrients. In fact it even grows in tanks with no fertilisers at all making it ideal for beginners and up. By trimming your moss you will encourage compact growth and also maintain the dome shape - it really becomes a work of art over time and promotes relaxation in the same way as trimming and maintaining a bonzai does.
In larger aquariums 2 or more moss domes look amazing and really add a whole new dimension to your aquarium.
This is a must for anyone who keeps shrimp and other small fish. You'll make them feel secure straight away.
Simply place your moss on the inside dome and scatter around, then place the outside dome on top and it will clamp into place. As simple as that!

I am not very good when it comes to plants, But this product works well. I would recommend not placing it on the ground unless you have good lights, as lack of light can effect the growth of java moss. I used small clips & suction cups to attach the pod to the the back of the tank closer to the light. It is light weight being hollow underneath. It holds the moss firm. I plan to try other plants with this bell shaped holder. To get the result shown in the picture I suspect you need a CO2 injection. Please note there are no real instructions on the packaging.
